Dream of Regeneration

Dear Brethren and Vistors of the SRC,

I would like to share with you a dream of regeneration I had on March 2, 2009, Below is The Dream and Response from the S8W Dream Interpretation Panel. Praise God for His promise to manifest Himself to those who choose to walk after His Spirit; laboring with the tools of His second Covenant. God is faithful and purges the soul from iniquity as we continue to abide in Him. May this dream encourage us all to continue to labor in the faith that the Spirit of God may continue to work the virtues of Christ within and through us.

Dream:

There was an old man who seemed to be a crossing guard.
I was walking down a street that was familiar to me; from my childhood.
I believe it was night and because nobody was outside and I wasn't afraid to sing because there was nobody outside where I was walking. It seemed as though people were sleep at this time.

Surprisingly my singing sounded good, so I continued to sing to hear my own voice.

As I was walking further down the street away from the old man.
I remember passing a friend who was pulling into the drive way, where I was crossing on the sidewalk. When his headlights beamed on me, I wasn't embarrassed but embraced the light as it hit me, because I wasn't ashamed of what He would see; I wanted him to notice me because I wasn't the same girl he knew from my childhood.

I believe I spoke to him or another man, who asked me why traffic was backed up. I looked towards the direction I came and said it could possibly be due to the old man [crossing guard] because of his old age. The street was straight and so I able to look back and see the old man from afar.

I then remember being a corner as if I was waiting for a bus, now it seemed to be day time, and as if someone was there with me, but I don't remember seeing an actual person. I think they were questioning whether or not the bus was going to stop there. When the bus got to me, it passed us and I was puzzled because I thought I was at the right stop. I took another look at the sign which was yellow; which seemed to indicate to me that it was indeed the wrong bus stop; clearing up the confusion and proving this person who questioned me right.

I then remember being upstairs in a room where I was grooming myself; doing my hair at a vanity table. Behind me was my former childhood boyfriend. He was watching TV and turning down invitations he was receiving from his friends over the phone. Both of us were in this room but we didn't interact with each other. I just continued to get ready as if I was going somewhere. In the back of my mind; I questioned if my former boyfriend noticed me especially because I was grooming myself.

Thank you for sending in your dream to the panel of elders. We are here to assist you with the interpretation of your dreams until you are practiced in the symbolism and confident in understanding them. How wonderful of God to provide a covenant in Himself to preserve us in Him! Below are some notes for your reflection and edification:

An old man who seemed to be a crossing guard:

***The old man in our dreams is often symbolic of that which is passing away as Paul wrote, “have put off the old man with his deeds” (Col.3:9). Through regeneration God severs us from those things that kept us in bondage and as we grow in grace the former things are passing away. Meaning, their hold upon us and perception are fading.

Street that was familiar to me; from my childhood.

*** God is bringing to your attention that he is bringing healing to those things of the past from your childhood. What is also of interest is that children trust crossing guards for save passage. There are many aspects to the moral code and philosophies we collected along life’s path that we also trusted in to give us safe passage from one point to another. The old man seemingly taking the role of a crossing guard may indicate that God is removing these old hidden confidences and replacing these with the confidence of Christ. Thank God that our profession of knowing God is accompanied by His work within.

I believe it was night

***The Lord at times uses night time to signify the unknown or how we were not aware of the influences upon us of the past or present. This knowledge is not given for us to “act upon” but rather to take confidence in the work of Christ. Our heavenly Father knows how to bring the life of Christ to the soul and how to communicate that His work is being accomplished. By Christ we are assured of the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

Surprisingly my singing sounded good, so I continued to sing to hear my own voice.

***Sometimes singing indicates growth in grace and the fruitfulness of the soul because of the priesthood of Jesus Christ. Praise God, the Lord gives a new song, a song of righteousness, virtue, praise, and glory. Christ things now define us rather than our past and the Spirit gives confidence to faith.

Headlights: I believe this may signify the conscience that is being purified by truth. In the dream you are not fearful about the light being shinned upon you and your confidence is seen in your song as well. This indicates your growing confidence in the priesthood and that your reciprocation to God is bringing the liberty of Christ to the soul. Praise God!

Walking away from the old man

***This is an edifying symbolism because “walking” is a form of activity. As we are active with our priesthood we are choosing to walk away from the old man.

See the old man from afar.

***The old man is first seen as a crossing guard, thus God makes the connection for you between the unseen influence that guided you in many decisions and gave false confidence. Now he is seen as from afar. Thus the Lord is again showing that He is healing the fruits of these influences and they are becoming dim.

Traffic was backed up because of the old man

***Here the Lord is revealing that the flow of your thoughts and how you perceived things were not flowing correctly on account of the “old man”.

False knowledge is also symbolized by the old man. The old system, Satan’s acculturation, etc. These things are healed in the soul as we continue in grace.

Bus

****Buses are used for short trips. The Lord brings to your attention that the next cycle of growth will be short.

Confusion/wrong bus stop

***The Lord may be addressing the confusion that sometimes comes with our cycles of growth. That we overcome ourselves through the tools of our priesthood. Having received of His grace we increase in His wisdom. Knowing that His grace is enough for us we cease to struggle in our own understanding and rejoice in His tutorage.

Upstairs

***Going upstairs usually has to do with increased understanding coming from the study of doctrine and time spent with our Lord. As we see in the dream, you are grooming yourself, especially your hair. Hair is also used to symbolize increased understanding. The Lord shows you that He is answering your prayers.

Childhood boyfriend turning down invitations

***In this case it may be that the boyfriend is you. The Lord is showing you the part of you that thinks (intellect is often symbolized by the male). He is watching TV, but turning down invitations. This is edifying as the Lord reveals that the many choices of faith that you make (turning down Satan’s offers) is adding to your increased understanding. It is as we go through our cycles of growth, choosing faith that we learn of Him and appreciate His covenant.

I questioned if my former boyfriend noticed me especially because I was grooming myself.

***The emotional part of us (often symbolized as the female) often feels not quite in sync with the part of us that thinks (often symbolized as the male). His presence there may also indicate that the Lord is healing any influences of that past acquaintance. Sometimes symbolism has more than one meaning and my purpose is to give you an overall view of your symbolism. The dream is yours and you will know best what meaning the Lord is conveying.

Paul wrote, “That the communication of your faith might become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” Philemon 1:6 I pray the Lord will continue to increase His grace upon you that your doxologies of praise would reflect every good thing of Christ.

“Those who are partner with the Lord are joined to Him through His knowledge that being justified by grace our confidence grows by His fruit.”

It is rewarding to experience true regeneration because my confidence in Gods power has grown stronger since the moment I started studying the doctrine of Christ and abiding within the restrictions of His covenant. Praise God for He is filling the soul of those who hunger and thirst after His righteousness and is returning the church back to her first love; Jesus Christ.

May we continue to abide in His grace that we may increase in His grace; continually being identified with Him. :o)
