Dear Brethren and visitors,
I would like to share with you a spiritual sacrifice for edification which I wrote after reading the Fourth Book of Maccabees chapters 4-6 today; particularly 6:46:
Fourth Book of Maccabees* 6:46
But she, the mother of those young men, with a soul like Abraham, was not moved from her purpose by her affection for her children.
After reading these chapters and coming to this last verse in chapter 6 I reflected on how Satan uses the moral code to affront God and likewise how those tethered to his kingdom possess the same temperament.
In the context of these chapters in regards to the mother spoken of here in the Fourth Book of Maccabees through false knowledge she was challenged by Satan to affront God by her affection for her children. That morally so; a mother should protect her child from death; that is, in this case; physical.
However, here is were I reflected on how the focus of the righteous is not concerning the death of the body which is temporary in purpose but the death of the soul which is eternal.
I then offered up this spiritual sacrifice which I delight in sharing with you all:
SS: The righteous focus not on the death of the body which is temporary in purpose but on the death of the soul which eternal; thus they endure the passage of time through faith with patience and long suffering that their soul remain filled continually with the light and life of Christ which is a delight before God because it reflects himself.
Scriptures I was reminded of:
Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Acts 4:19,20
But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
