Dear brethren,
The last week I have been reflecting on the marvellous shift and transition we have experienced through God’s work of regeneration and I was so thankful for this new LIFE we have which is Hid in Christ Jesus.
These were some of my reflections.
There are three types of perspectives that people cling to in order for them to overcome life’s challenges. There are those who cope: because they draw from the past, there are those live for the moment because that’s their only reality and those who live for what the future holds. All three of them have their hope tied to this dimension and to the things of this world, which we know by experience is fallible and continuously shifting and changing.
But the redeemed of the Lord learn a different perspective, through the work of regeneration God is bringing a shifting to the way we perceive things; we are gaining a heavenly perspective. We begin to live and discern life through Gods prophetic timeframe, everything is being brought back to orbit around His purpose which is Christ being all in all. How empowering is this new pattern for reflection in the time of testing, when the old man still feels the need to draw strength and value from the pattern of the flesh, we have the power to close that window of short-sightedness and open the window of seeing afar off, a city and kingdom that cannot be moved or shaken.
Is this not the tradition of faith, the legacy that all Gods people have left in all the ages? When we read Hebr 11 we see all the patriarchs having the same perspective of faith being the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not yet seen.
“For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city†Heb 11:10 - 16
Even Gods people lose sight of their true hope, and the slightest change in focus, finds us ready to recall the former things that once held promise of bringing fulfilment to the soul. Therefore knowing the wiles of Satan who’s mission it is to distract us, we walk circumspectly not procrastinating our response to reject his suggestions to walk contrary to Christ, we rather remain mindful of our purpose which is to build the Kingdom of God.
We overcome the challenge by keeping our eyes upon the promises of God by being:
Persuaded (through reflection) of them,
Embracing (through rehearsing) them,
And confessing (reciprocating) them.
Those who walk and direct their faith according to the Eternal timeframe, have a heavenly perspective, a perspective which originates from the throne of God, they are not shaken nor distracted by their circumstances.
Praise God for the covenant of Christ by which we are made partakers of His triumph at the cross, and of His resurrection we are made sons of God by the effectual working of the Holy Ghost.
“Through a strong priesthood we keep the tether of His grace unbroken, vigilant and ready to build and invest in a kingdom whose maker is God. To run a race for a crown that is not perishable and to fight a battle that has already been won.â€
