The Father and Son

Dear bretheren and visitors,

Earlier today I watched a movie named "Real Steel" about a father and son who find a rejected robot named "Atom" in a dump. They brought it back with them, switched it on and cleaned it up and used it to box against other robots to make money.

I was just reminded of how we are spiritually dead apart from a covenant with God and dirty with iniquity. When the Spirit of grace finds us and we respond in faith, God declares us righteous and seals us into a covenant with Him and this is how He takes us into His kingdom. When we abide in the doctrine of Christ we have both the Father and the Son and the cleaning process in the inner man by the Spirit and Truth begins (2 John 1:9)(KJV),"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son."

The robot had to be trained by the involvement of both the father and the son before they could use it in each boxing match. So also are we prepared to battle against Satan as we arm ourselves with the holy knowledge each day so that we can overcome our daily conflicts. God sets us in a boxing ring (battlefield of faith) by His operation as He administers grace and truth to us so that we can experience the mediation of Jesus Christ. Everytime we overcome self, Satan and the world in each battle we are rewarded with an increase of the fruits of the Spirit for God and thereby we increase His kingdom. Herein we see the Godhead at work in the inner man.
