Understanding (Word of Wisdom)

During prayer the word understanding was planted in my mind. And my attention was directed to the two words that make up the word: Understanding.

Merriam-Webster

Under: receiving or undergoing the action or effect of
Standing: established by law or custom, not moveable
Establish: to put on a firm basis; set up
set up: to raise to and place in a high position
to place upright; erect
erect: build

Reflections:

Receiving the effect (initiation) wherewith we are established (upright) by His law of reciprocation (contact for increase).

Effect reminded me of the effectual working power of the Holy Spirit. How God is involved in every aspect of our lives (mercy) because we are making application with those things(tools of the covenant) the Spirit works with.

"The effectual working power of the Holy Spirit is in the application of truth." (S8W Glossary)

Receiving the effectual working power of the Holy Spirit through our application of truth we are established (upright) by His law for by the law we are able to identify the boundaries God set in Jesus Christ for our faith which is expressed through spiritual government.

Upright (established) in respect to [taking into account] our position [attitude/disposition] with Apostolic Governance.

Because we yield to Apostolic Governance we are not as the beast walking on all fours [using our instincts for faith]; we have understanding; we are receiving the effectual working power wherewith we are placed in an upright position; our faith meets God's expectations perfectly because His grace is affecting our heart in a positive way.

If we despised God's dignities we would not be established (upright) because it is through spiritual government we receive direction for faith.

"we are placed in an upright position" - right having to do with God's mind and not the moral code. His righteousness not self righteousness, we are conforming to His standard and so are we reflecting His divine nature because His grace is affecting our heart in a positive way; we bear the likeness of Christ in the innerman because our response is in agreement with the knowledge expressed through spiritual government.

Proverbs 4:7 - Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Acts 2:42 - And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Psalms 11:7 - For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

Psalms 73:32 -So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
(We see the beastly nature attributed to ignorance and foolishness thus we can see the importance of knowledge and how those who make application with truth are not beastly in nature)

Spiritual Sacrifices:

We are not beastly in nature when we walk by the Spirit for in this do we have God's mind.

With all the knowledge we get through apostolic stewardship the effect we hunger after is only experienced as the result of application.

It is good to hear the knowledge of truth being preached by apostles today but our faith becomes effectual when it functions according to what is delineated in their doctrine.
