Dream about white perfumed socks

Greetings brethren and welcome to our visitors.

The other morning the Lord gave me a dream. It brought much edification and comfort to my soul. I'd like to share with you, for it speaks of the loving kindness of God towards all who are prepared to come into His covenant of mercy and grace.

In this dream, white, perfumed socks were put on my feet.

For a few days before, I had spent much time praying in tongues and petitioning on my own behalf and on behalf of all the elders and brethren in Christ for an increase of grace so that we, as good ministers can provide nourishment in the words of faith and of good doctrine (1Tim 4:6) to make known Christ. I prayed for the continued work of regeneration (healing) in each by which God removes those things that offend.

We know from the doctrine of Christ that when we pray in tongues, the Spirit of God searches out the caverns of our souls and plots the course for our deliverance and healing from the fruits of iniquity and by His effectual working the fruit of Christ is formed within. We know that the fruits of iniquity were forged within the soul through lifelong labor with the knowledge and tools of the Kingdom of Darkness and it is this knowledge that God separates us from and this work that He circumcises from the heart daily.

[Except from S8W lesson]

“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” (1Cor.14:2).

When we pray in tongues (speak in tongues) we do not understand what we are saying, but we do understand the doctrine of tongues. We DO understand how and why God is using this tool. As we pray in tongues the Spirit is searching our hearts and making intercession on our behalf to God concerning the path for healing that needs to be taken...

Now, just because praying in tongues is the primary tool of the new covenant for regeneration, our prayers are not exclusively in tongues. We are to also pray in our own understanding. I Cor.14:15, “What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also.”...Make your request known to God, and then make intercession in the Spirit concerning that request, offer your spiritual sacrifices of prophecy and let the results lie with God. Reflect on the covenant and have confidence in Christ as your mediator [end of except]

As I prayerfully reflected on the dream I experienced a strong impact of God’s grace upon my soul and I was edified by the evidence of His mercy (His active involvement in my faith). Let’s now look at the dream symbolism and observe how it speaks of the work of Christ, confirming our confidence in Him:

Dream Symbolism

In this dream, white, perfumed socks were put on my feet.

The symbolism of shoes speak of one's walk in Christ as well as calling, either apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher or pastor but what was the meaning of socks?

Well, apart from keeping our feet dry on a hot day, socks form a protective barrier by absorbing the toxins excreted through our feet. The toxins are absorbed by the sock and our shoes are not contaminated by the odor-inducing impurities in our sweat.

Now, that picture may not edify anyone but it carries the symbolism of Christ’s work within the soul. Let’s consider a few things:

White socks: Represents the purity of Christ and His righteousness, which is not defiled by the flesh. We can walk in confidence of faith knowing that as we remain joined to Christ by exercising our will with the tools of His covenant we walk in the purity of Christ’s righteousness. His virtue is pure, free from the moral code and therefore our faith is free from the labor of the flesh to exact piety from the moral code. Christ’s fruit is grown from the roots of God’s kingdom.

“And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints” (Rev.19:8).

Perfumed socks: This symbol is representative of walking in truth. God receives our prayers and spiritual sacrifices of prophecy as a sweet smelling aroma of praise. We walk in the power of grace by rehearsing, reflecting, and reciprocating the knowledge of Christ and thus, the sweet aroma of God’s grace and truth is a blessing to others.

“And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours [perfume], which are the prayers of saints” (Rev.5:8).

When our feet are prepared by grace and truth to carry forth the knowledge of Christ, then our feet bring good tidings, that publish peace and salvation

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!” (Is.52:7).

Socks were put on my feet: This is symbolic of the effectual working power of the Holy Spirit and the progress of regeneration. This divine work is not something we can generate ourselves; we need an outside force (Holy Spirit) to effect Christ’s salvation within. By this we can observe “The law of reciprocation “in kind.” The divine work of the Spirit is an exchange of substance: As we offer to God our prayers and spiritual sacrifices of prophecy He reciprocates by affecting the soul with Christ’s virtues.

Finally, we come back to this important point: The socks form a protective barrier by absorbing the toxins excreted through our feet. The toxins are absorbed by the sock and our shoes are not contaminated by the odor-inducing impurities in our sweat.

Let’s review a few facts about God’s divine law of reciprocation and the purpose of preserving us in Christ to see how easy it is to walk in our sanctification:

The Law of Reciprocation = Contact for Increase

Review: What is “Contact”?

S8W Apostles’ University Glossary:

Contact Point:

"But he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit" (1Cor.1:17).

Mark 5:27-31
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and TOUCHED his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that VIRTUE had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who TOUCHED my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who TOUCHED me?

The words “joined” and "touched" depicts the divine plan for "contact." That which God has sanctified in Christ Jesus for our faith to be joined to (to touch) for our experience of Christ’s virtue, for our increase in His kingdom.

God has sanctified the tools of Christ’s covenant for our labor of faith for the purpose of keeping our soul tethered to Him and for Him to increase our soul with His grace. A form of reciprocation is taking place. Our soul remains anchored in the throne of His grace and His Spirit of Grace remains anchored in us. Our experience of this communion is described in our growth: from grace to grace, from faith to faith, from charity to charity. [end]

What great comfort, what great joy to know that all of the tools of Christ’s covenant are effectual for faith, allow us a relationship with God that He designed for our increase, and joins us to Christ and His righteousness. With thankful hearts we can rejoice that our prayers and sacrifices are received before the throne of God as sweet perfume. Let us continue in our sanctification as good stewards of the grace of God bringing to others the sweet knowledge of His Christ. What a blessed assurance we have that we are being fashioned into vessels fit for His use.

I offer this spiritual sacrifice for grace and for your edification:

“Equipped by grace and truth, the righteous servants of the Lord are cleansed and healed as they labour at the Altar of Christ”
